MiniMax First Cook

First cook on a BGE. Picked up my new MM and was a little timid for the first cook, so I went indirect. Will not be afraid to cook direct the next time. The filet turned out beautiful though.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.  You nailed that right out of the gate.  Congrats.  Above all, have fun.
The other thing you have likely picked up on from this place is that there is no limit to the amount of toys you never knew you couldn't live without til you read it here.  Your discretionary income and  CC will be put to the test.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

The MiniMax is a great little grill.  I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

I honestly don't think mine was ever that shiny!

  • Welcome to the forum. Great looking steak. That MM is a searing machine. Don’t be afraid to let it run direct next time. What is the green thing where the thermometer is?

    I wondered that too.

Nice job on that filet. We cook lots of those here. (Two MMs in this household.)

Bluetooth Dome Thermometer - Big Green Egg

It is a BGE bluetooth dome thermometer. It charges via usb and you can download an app on your phone to read the temp of the dome area. My coworkers bought it for me as a retirement gift. Works great.

Sorry, I have not tested the range. It's so close from our great room to the patio.

That sounds sufficient that it is working through the outside wall into the home.  Cool, thanks.

So which Huskies?  University of Connecticut? the University of Southern Maine? Michigan Tech? Northeastern? Northern Illinois University? St. Cloud State University? University of Washington?

Or, are you a Chicago Bears fan?  They are the biggest dog-team I know of, so I thought maybe it was a play on that.

It's all good.  My beloved Hawkeyes lost to the Huskies in the Rose Bowl my Senior year of College, so I am a bit sensitive....
