Conveggtor storage while hot

At times, I need to remove the conveggtor from the egg for an extended period of time and it is hot. What is a safe way to store it while it is hot? Once my food is cooked, I can put it back into my rig and put it back into the egg, but, in the meantime...

Is a large concrete paver on top of a wooden table suffient? or is that a fire hazard?

Thank you for all I have learned so far on this forum!

Please help once again!

    @KimberlyO

I've had to do this a couple times.   I have used 2 bricks to set it on but I’ve also just set it on concrete.   Guess it may depend on temp?    Surely someone has a better solution.

I set mine on the sidewalk.  But, I don't have kids or dogs around.

Anything you can do to create an air gap will help protect your table.  Your large concrete paver is probably sufficient.

I also just use a couple fire bricks at home...but  back after cooking classes and eggfests I made this combination box with an aluminum bottom that I made to carry home my hot platesetter, pizza stone and grate. It might seem like overkill, but sure came in handy! But also since our eggfests were held on an asphalt parking lot this box kept my hot p/s from getting covered with melted asphalt which I had seen happen to a guy once!

I set it on another grill. No bending over with something this hot, and the PS woo makes it really easy to lift out.

It is dangerous for sugar gliders too!

Wherever you land with your solution, just make sure the landing zone is "ready to receive" before the extraction.  Minimize the handling burn window.

You can set it anywhere that it’s safe from kids and pets that’s not flammable. Paver, concrete patio, inside another grill. But there is no chance it will generate enough heat to burn through a paver into your wood table. But it’s great to have a plan. Excellent!

  • Thanks for all the comments, guys. I loved your box, RRP, but, frankly, I am not that talented! I think I'll get a paver from Home Depot and attach it to my cart. In the meantime, I have a gas grill right next to my egg. DOH!

A cheap 'cooling rack' also works.

  • That would give enough air space to provide fire protection? that would be the easiest solution...

The cooling rack would certainly give enough air gap.  That piece of ceramic cools down pretty fast.

  • My solution was to get another Egg to set it in.
  • I have been trying to convince my wife we need the addition of an XL in order to cook a 17 lb brisket, without the need to accordion it into the large (yes, I had to do that once, rookie mistake). i am not sure your reasoning will be a great selling point, though...

When it shows up, there is always the "honey, I think Amazon screwed up my order. I called them about it, and they said just keep it" ruse.

  • Thanks for all your input. I think using the grill to get it out of the woo and placing the placesetter onto the concrete paver. much better than what I was doing; putting it on a flagstone 19 feet away and down the steps to a large french drain in my side yard. Out of sight, out of mind, I left it there more than once... Thanks again!
