Pulled Turkey

Pulled a turkey from the deep freezer yesterday. Let it thaw on the counter for a while and then left in the fridge overnight. Didn’t really have a game plan for it. Just wanted to cook it and get it out of the freezer. This morning pulled out of the fridge and seasoned with Tony Chachere’s. Threw on the egg rolling around 250. Let it creep up 300. Once the breast was reading 135 I pulled from the egg and brought it inside. I decided to wrap in foil with a stick of butter. Put back in the egg breast down so it could soak in the buttery goodness. At this point I realized I have never seen anyone shred a turkey like you would a chicken. Figured let’s give it a go. My goodness. Really enjoyed this. I saved the foil packet of goodness and poured it back over the shredded turkey.

I'm still stuck on the buttery turkey juice poured back in the mix. Gawd that sounds good.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
