Bone in Prime Rib Question

We are hosting Christmas this year and I am planning on cooking a bone in prime rib.  There will be 7 of us.  How big of a roast should I buy?

They say a bone for every 2 people. I’d go heavy and grab a 4 bone

Yeah, just got back from the store.  Went 5 bones.  Nothing like left overs.  Plus its just my brother and I being the only guys.  The ladies won't eat that much.

The Jewel store here has them this week for $5.99 per pound (bone-in).  But, they require an additional $25 purchase.

So, I walked out with a $50 (8+ lb) rib roast and a $27 bottle of Wild Turkey 101.  Win-Win.

9 lbs easy. You want 7 lbs of meat (I bank on 1 lb per person ... some will eat less and some more) ... and bones, weight loss over cook ... you'll lose 2 lbs for sure.

Picked up 2 small ones, under 5#, yesterday from HEB. They had prime for about $14. I went for 2 of the cheap ones $3.77 per pound.

Y'all are making me hungry for prime rib. May have to swing by HEB on my way home.

Rosemary salt.  I have to think that would be wonderful on a PRR.
