So I snapped one of my bolts for the hing/band assembly. Looking for some guidance on what to do/ replace it. TIA

Its a stud.  Lindy's should have some extra lying around they can give you, or you can look on your band and see if you have any extras already installed.  Mine had a few installed with the acorn nuts and they were not actually holding anything on.

You will need to remove the band to replace.

Your local dealer might have extras lying around. I've gone into my dealer a few different times for some clinch studs when adding mates. I've never been charged.

I don't know if it's any different with the new band.

    1/4"-20x 5/8

looks like its already moved, if it moves more it will jam and twist and you are looking at a new band. if you do use it, i would keep temps down and open and close slow

Lindy's should have some extra lying around
Perhaps - if Lindy's was still a BGE dealer,,,but Lindy's was sold several years back to a company out of Chicago and that needed the BGE lineage.  But Perhaps "Discount Dave" as the Washington ACE dealer calls himself might be able to help - but surely Morton has an ACE. Otherwise Farm & Fleet might be a good source for those studs.

Yea Lindys was bought out but the last time I was in there (couple months) they still sold eggs. My goto place has been Nena’s Ace here in Morton.

Justin Nena is a good dude.  Their G-Town store has a lot too, might try calling them.

  • If you have a Fastenal near, they stock the 1/4”-20 in stainless.  And various lengths.
  • I would take this opportunity to upgrade bands @saluki2007

Hmmm...VERY interesting as the last time I was at Lindy's there was not an egg nor related product in sight! Perhaps BGE corporate has decided to re-instate some tiny dealer in Washington. IL??? Wonder what "Discount Dave" at ACE Hardware thinks about that since he spends boo-koo money on local TV advertising his store there in Washington. B)
  • Last time one of mine broke I got a replacement at a local Fastenal store.

I've got a bag of the studs somewhere in the house, probably close to 100 of them. Can always message me if this comes up again.

Stainless fasteners are nowhere near as strong as hardened steel.  I would use at your own risk or upgrade to a larger size (will have to over drill the band which makes the band weaker).
