Turkey on a medium

Hi all, new member here. Weather permitting, Im going to do my turkey on the egg this year and I would like to spatchcock it. Anyone know what size turkey will fit comfortably spatchcocked on a medium egg? I would like to do a 12 pounder. Here’s a pic of a six pound chicken I did recently that turned out great. I think a 12 lb turkey would be tight, but doable. Thoughts? Thanks

12 is okay. I have done 14 on a medium but that was pushing it.

A nice plump Butterball type #12 should fit well. A free range #12 would typically be a longer bird and might be a tighter fit.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

I have had success breaking the bird down into a breast and two leg quarters. Allows the ability to get creative. Might help in this scenario sine you are already cooking it flat.

In the past, whenever I’ve been on the fence about a protein fitting on the Egg, it has usually worked out if I will it to - just sometimes need to make some adjustments (e.g., removal of some thermo, fooling around the edges outside of the shadow of the Plate Setter, etc.).Enjoy the cook. There can be great fun in putting meat into tight spaces.

Thanks all. Sorry about the sideways pic. Is there a “how to post pics” area? I can’t seem to find it.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. Above all, have funt
Regarding turkey size, take a piece of string that is the length of the maximum size you can fit. Then check out the turkey size, using the string to ensure you are good to go. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
One other thing, point the legs to the back.
