This book was required reading for me, somewhere around 1974 or so.  It was a stream-of-consciousness type novel about a young guy who was severely injured during WWI (lost his legs, arms, sight, hearing, voice, but was kept "alive" via science).  The end of the novel, he had figured out how to communicate via bobbing his head against his hospital pillow, using Morse Code.  He didn't even know if he was asleep/dreaming, or awake. And I can't quite remember how the book ended, and no way could I read it again.  It had a pretty big impact on me...
...yet, I entered a career of killing people, including nuclear weapons.  Go figure.

Tonight, farcebook suggested this video to me, from of all folks, Metallica; I remember seeing this before.

This past Tuesday/Wednesday was a huge lift to me, personally.  This video brought m right back down.  Sigh.

This song/video has always been near the top of my favorite tunes list since grade 11. The volume is always dialed up when One comes on! I knew there was a deeper story behind the lyrics but never dived in to it... might have to now...thanks for sharing!
