What you're trouble shooting is totally out of my league. Just thought I'd share my recent car problem ...

Manually turned on my 2011 Corolla interior light and forgot about it, duh. After recharging the battery overnight it started up next day but it was running rough as if something was misfiring. Fortunately it returned to normal after a couple of short shopping trips. I just chalked it up to some on board computer relearning?

Hope you get it resolved without breaking the bank, good luck! Sorry didn't mean to threadjack.
I had a battery light that randomly would go on/off on my dash for the last month. I thought it was my alternator was maybe going before plugging in my scanner with the icon popping up randomly at times. I checked the battery with a multimeter and the battery was good. I checked the battery again with the truck running for the alternator and that was good.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the ignition somewhere with the battery icon showing up randomly in the last month but that's just a guess.
    Sounds like a bad ground.
    That could be

last battery would test right, alternator was working, borrowed a 7o year old load tester.....junk. never had done that with a battery before.
I don't think it's the battery as it's not even on its 2nd birthday yet. It tested good. I'm not so sure with the alternator. It tested good on the battery but who knows.

@WeberWho send me all the details for your year of your car, trim level, all that stuff and I can see if I can ask my Mechanic Friend to look it up in his computer

    Very much appreciated! @TEXASBGE2018

She's getting dragged into the repair shop a little later this evening. I should hear something tomorrow afternoon. I'm really hoping it's something simple.

Please keep us updated.  I have been following.  I like this thread.
I used to work on my own cars, basically because I had no money and no kids and plenty of TIME.  Now I have some money.  Not RRP money or anything. . .  but enough to not have to work on my own cars.  I also have lots of kids and no time.  I WILL have to teach my kids to work on their own cars.  I do like fixing things myself and have been in your spot before.  Tinkering until its really broke or don't know what is wrong and tow it to mechanic!  I love your propensity to just dig in and see what is going on.  You also have patience!  Lately, Unless the car become non-operable, I just keep a list of complaints to give the mechanic at oil change time...oil changes are usually 1k and I move on. . . .

    Hey thanks! @kl8ton

I hate going to a mechanic. I've been very fortunate with my last couple Rangers. It's been pretty basic for wrenching on them. Oil changes and brakes. I don't mind doing that kind of stuff. It starts to go sideways when it gets to electrical, timing, etc. I wish I was more knowledge with that kind of stuff. I'll give it the old college try though.
