Party Q Replacement

My Party Q finally gave up the ghost after many years. Apparently they don't make a direct replacement for my large Egg. Not sure why as I thought it was a great piece of equipment. I need the battery feature because I don't have a plug near the Egg. Any suggestions are welcome and thanks for the help.

I use the Flame Boss 500 and really like it. I know it’s not a direct replacement but I do run it off a small rechargeable power pack.
    Thank you,

  • I wish I had the ability to diagnose and fix it. I've literally had it for years and I think it's just its time. I've been looking at the Flame Boss and I like what I see so far. Thanks.

The Fireboard 2 is a battery ran controller. (You can also plug it it) Not necessarily cheap and a fan needs to be added but it seems like a nice controller.

    - I have multiple controllers. Of all of them the one with the least battery consumption and tightest temp control is the Smobot. It's long pole in the tent is only 2 temp probes (meat). It is a mizer on battery due to no fan. Can also run on AC.
    - Fireboard as mentioned can run on battery or AC. It's battery is onboard no need to get a battery pack. By far it has the most features from it's notes, to adding pics, cook programs like many high end pellet grills, control over fan output percentage etc. Up to 6 probes. BTW if you go this route and buy their fan you want to throttle it down to 20-30%.
    - Have a Flameboss also decent controller. Mr. Collins and his tech support is top shelf. My Flameboss is the old 200 and it works fine. So I can not speak for newer models.
    - If a large number of probes is a requirement the Fireboard (6) and Tappecue Touch (8) are your choices. If you want to monitor say a wireless thermometer with your controller the only show in town right now is the Tappecue Touch with Cruise Control running an AirProbe 2 or 3. This would eliminate a Meater+ or Meat Stick down the road if you go that route. It would all run through the Touch.
    - Have two other controllers but do not run them off battery.
    - If battery is your main thing and two temp probes (meat) is not an issue the Smobot is hard to beat.

I have the FireBoard 2 Pro and their drive blower because I wanted the option to use it for pizza maybe in the future (the pro uses thermocouples that can handle higher heat). It can run on battery or plug. I have no other point of comparison, but I’ve been happy with it. Does a very good job keeping a stable temp. The blower is variable speed. If you are on battery, it won’t run the blower at full tilt to conserve power.
  • Thank you guys for all of the responses. I have been looking at the Fireboard 2 and I really like it. I appreciate all of the comments.
