    Bluetooth and WiFi both use the same frequency band 2.4ghz. The difference is, as you said, power consumption, which in turn equates to power output and battery life. One of the Bluetooth classes/specs allows for range of up to about 1000 feet. To do that tho would mean higher power output, which means greater power consumption, which means a bigger battery or frequent battery changes/charging.
