I know I've read very good complete posts, but I can't seem to find them.

After I replaced my base last year it hasn't been quite the same and I'd like to start over and reset everything.

@RRP I seem to remember you had a good write up, but I can't find it, or if anyone else has one that is complete and does not assume I know anything would be great.

Tnx

It wasn't me...at least as I recall. I have helped people to fix the issue when the planes of their dome and base are out of whack. Is that what you meant?

Ok. I thought I remembered something more.

The planes are not right, a couple of the wrong bolts are loose, I just want to loosen everything and start over.

Pretty simple actually! Just close your dome, loosen the bolts holding the bands in place, push the dome down against the base and retighten the bolts!

I've done that twice, yet It is still is not opening and closing correctly and when I tighten the bands I introduce a leak at the gasket.

If I loosen the bands just have the dome resting on the base there is no leak.

Its a rutland gasket and there's nothing wrong with the gasket or the gasket install. Something is wonky when I tighten things.

Have someone hold the dome down while tightening the bands, use a screw driver to pry the upper band up and lower band down when tightening. I've done this many times. You don't need the second person but it helps. The prying up and down closes that gap

If you have the new style bands the link from @SamIAm2 should fix you up.
If you have your original 2011 bands it's a bit different.  There are several threads on here that address that style, pretty sure I have bookmarks for them on my desktop computer.  Unfortunately I'm away for the night, I can look them up tomorrow.  Understand your pain on trying to find specific items on this forum.

Thanks, I only scanned it. I have the original 2011 bands. I kind of like the higher tilt, and it used to work well.

    I'll keep searching.

google does a better job than the forum search so I'll look for one that's a few years old.

Based on the “tighten the bands I introduce a leak” comment tells me your bands and/or hinge are bent! While it may seem like a pain to do this, but I believe you will need to completely remove the bands from your egg so you can properly assess what is going on! Something is BENT!!! And needs to be straightened!
