Cherry Pie
It is cherry season and our tree has given us plenty of cherries for us, the birds and whatever other wildlife comes by during the night.
Both the crust and pie filling from the ‘Joy of Cooking’ 2019 edition cookbook. Like this book because the recipes are simple and so far, what we tried works well.
My wife loves raw cherries, but hates cooked hole cherries. So, we pitted and pulsed the cherries in the Food Processor. The result was a success and the pie tasted great.
This is a first successful time for me making a great crust.
Cooked on the Large Egg, 450F, indirect at felt level in a 9 inch cast iron pan.
As you can see here, my baking skills need to improve.
Took about 45 minutes to complete.
A little whip cream:
Thanks for looking. Now on to the next recipe which are Cherry Chip cookies … Anyone else have Cherry recipes? Need to process a lot of cherries and the neighbors are now shutting the blinds when they see us coming. What we bake now will be frozen.

That looks great!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I'm curious, why choose to cook that on the egg? Does it improve the taste?

One of the things that I have to live without in the Gulfcoast Steambath. Plenty of blueberries and figs though.

You may be asking the wrong person, as I believe everything is better on the Egg

Was pre-diabetic several years ago and with a proper diet, which means no fast or pre-packaged food, got out of that.Last year we had 1 mom and 5 young ones in the tree each night. They sure do clean it up quick. This year I have not seen any - I know when they are around because they poop everywhere. The birds make a mess also, but that does not bother me, I like having them around.Dave

Oh man. I love cherry pie, but not the work of pitting the cherries. I'm drooling over here!#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I said to my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' She said, 'I want to go somewhere I've never been before.' I said, 'Try the kitchen.'
