I'd also recommend a Zojirushi. The one I have (one of their induction models) is about 20 years old and the only "problem" I have with it is that the internal clock memory battery died after about ten years. I never used the clock/timer function so I never bothered trying to replace it.

The first rice cooker I bought about 40 years ago was a Panasonic - one of the basic models and it cooked most varieties of rice fine but the Zoji (or really any of the "fuzzy logic" types) will cook more types of rice better than the basic models.

Just in the last couple of days I saw a video of ATK's "best" recommendation for a rice cooker, and it was the above Zojirushi.
Yet, I remember another rec from them years ago, and it was the "Aroma", at $50.  I've had mine for years, use it a couple times a week, and it still performs perfectly (as it did again yesterday).  Cooks white and brown rice perfectly, I've no complaints.

EDIT:  I just checked amazoid, its still available but is now only $29.  Looks identical.  8-cup capacity.
