Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend.
I'm enjoying my new KBQ as a dedicated stick burner - smoker.
Next, I need to replace my BGE w/ a charcoal kettle. This will be my 1st charcoal kettle in many decades. I want it for grilling veggies, fish, chicken, steaks, brats & burgers, etc. I am also interested in the slow & sear & vortex. If one has the slow and slow is there any purpose in having a vortex? While the Kamado Joe Slow & Sear version looks nice, I don't think I need to spend that much to get a good kettle to use slow & slow for my purposes... especially considering I have another dedicated smoker.
I'd appreciate your input and advice regarding a new kettle, slow & slow, vortex.
Thanks in advance!
JD

Are you talking about the Kettle Joe? It's pretty nice. I have one sitting here in my office. Fairly heavy, well insulated with ceramic, has the insert for smoking, very nice stand & side tables.
I suppose you could go cheaper and add accessories, but I think you'll be surprised how cheaply made kettles are now. You're better off looking around garage sales and resale shops for a pre-china one. -
I was confused, I meant the SNS Kamoto. I now see that SNS grills has a SNS kettle. Looks pretty good.
Thanks!

Get a used 22 inch kettle off FBM or CL, a vortex and a new SS grate.
Dont spend a lot on the kettle. If you like it you can find a nicer one later.
A used performer, or one touch platinum is what I'd look for.
This OTP was free to me last fall. The only thing I bought was the vortex.
