New fire ring height?

A good buddy and fellow egghead was at the local Ace the other day grabbing some coal and noticed a medium for sale for a good price. He opened it up and noticed the cooking grate was already at the felt and looked like it didn’t not have an expander to lift it there. Are the new eggs coming with taller fire rings? Is the felt the new stock cooking height?

Have not heard, maybe the packaging to protect the insides lifted the grate. Just a guess of course.Dave

Not that I know, much less could even imagine! My guess is some ACE clerk PROBABLY inserted a ffre ring with shipping material inside just like the earlier poster thought!

I wouldn't imagine so. BGE ripoff adjustable rig probably wouldn't work at the felt line."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

If it had the plate setter installed the grid would be close to felt line-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

I'm not sure. An easy check would be to see if the Ceramic Grill Store does. If they do BGE does."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan
