New lid band

I have an older large BGE.  The lid has the catch lever you need to pull when closing the lid. While being very secure, I'm concerned as we are starting to have more people over for parties, etc, I'm concerned someone may damage the lid down.  Are the newer style lids interchangeable on the older eggs?  Looking for feedback on how you like them.

The new bands are nice.  No alignment issues.  They have a catch/tab so the dome can't fall out as easily.  However, they do not open as far.

It is harder to stick your entire head in it to clean it out, now.

I have no idea if the new bands would fit your older egg.  A quick diameter measurement would tell us.

Post a picture, it sounds like a vintage egg!

What fishless said for SURE! Call FIRST! That old hinge with that lever is indeed a major potential problem with inexperienced guests around! I had those on a couple of my older eggs and I too was always afraid some well meaning guest would wreck my eggs since trying to shut them without the release would wreck the bands PLUS make the dome fall out and break! I happily changed them out for the spring assisted ones when they first became available.

I have a Lrg BGE purchased in 2008.  Put a new band set on last year.
Dunno if this will help or not:

I changed my LBGE band with the catch lever last Nov. In fact that set of bands was prior to BGE slapping that yellow rubber cover on that slid over the catch lever. No issues in the swap out.
