Never had this happen - 18 hour still embers

Did a cook Saturday @250 for 5 hours, then @350 for an hour or so.  Had the new Reggulator cap on, cook done slid the covers closed and that was that.

Sunday pulled the KAB, gave it a shake and sat the KAB on top of my Chiminea while I emptied ash out for todays 6 hour cook.  After a bit I thought whats burning and looked over and sure enough the KAB has a piece of lump restarting... 17 hours after I shut it down.

Now generally I used the Ceramic Cap and generally I dont do involved cooks back to back days.  So then.. Sundays cook was Carnitas @350 for five/ six hours.  Closed the egg down at about 5.30 PM, went out at 9ish and was turning the dial back to normal and thought... hmm the egg is still pretty warm after all this time.  Pulled the Reggulator and put the Ceramic cap back on.

Anyway food for thought.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

It doesn't take much O2 to keep a tiny spec going, especially if it is insulated with ash.  Last month when I cleaned out the ash in my wood stove and saw a few little guys in there after 24+ hrs.  I put the couple quarts of ash in a paper grocery bag and set this in the middle of the driveway just for fun.  Sure enough, the next day there was a hole in the side of the bag where that little ember spread and charred the paper.  Fire is fascinating.

It just means you have enough air leaking in and out to maintain some kind of combustion.  to see where it's coming from, start a fire and before you shut it down, throw in some leaves or grass to make smoke, and watch where the smoke comes out. you likely have more than one leak.
