We took a road trip out to Wyoming on Friday, headed to the Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary, located on about 1000 acres outside Hartville. https://kindnessranch.org/ They specialize in the care and rehab of animals that were condemned to a life in research laboratories. For a number of reasons beagle hounds are often chosen for this research activity. I've been partial to beagles most of my life and determined many years ago that rescues are the path for me. Normally there are three beags in the household, recently got down to just one, so we took the trip to get that deficiency partially corrected.
We went with an adoption interest in three particular boys, came home with a two year old girl named Gaia. Our current beagle made the trip and the interaction/compatibility with her played the major role in selecting Gaia.
Gaia has some trauma to overcome to reach the "Merry Hound Dog" status she deserves. Her curiosity and activity levels are encouraging signs the journey won't be too long. Couple pics of her on the way home and one of getting some rest.

Also, the sanctuary has Yurts available for rent on-site. We stayed in one, which was a first for us, not a bucket list item type thing, just a new experience. These are a bit upscale from my knowledge of traditional Yurts. It's an interesting and efficient building layout...

And had a really nice sunset on Friday eve...

Amazing story, congrats to both you and the new pup.
Don't tell your problems to people. 80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

Heart warming story. It's worth the effort rehabilitating socially stunted or emotionally disturbed pets. Our last kitten was from a feral litter. Took well over a year for her to stop being afraid of her own shadow and open up. But a great adult now.

Would that be your super cool "leopard" cat that was the feral one? While not for everyone, I fully agree that putting in the extra work required to acclimate a cast-off pet is worth it. Subjectively speaking, they seem to know they've been given a second chance and are grateful for it.This is our 8th rescue, have some regrets that path wasn't taken earlier in life.

Our next-door neighbor has a large pit bull mix who passed thru 4 homes before being rescued. The neighbor has a huge 2 acre lot and had an in-ground invisible fence installed to keep her from running off at first. But such a large yard is what she needed even though she is house broken and stays inside most of the time. She really is a sweet dog and we have really taken to her and she loves our little Westie. But she still scares people when she goes racing toward the street!

My parents Boston Terrier is on her 4th home . It would be her third but she kept escaping from my nephews backyard. The first home was one filled with domestic abuse and she didn’t trust men for a while. During Easter she will be boarded for the first time. Hopefully she doesn’t think “here we go again “.

That's a good pup right there. And y'all are good people. Best of luck to y'all and Gaia.

They were first time cat owners and that cat is super high energy and recommended for people who are very dedicated. He's not feral, but he's full of energy and will destroy your house if he's not entertained. Jazz is about 7 years old and runs the neighborhood. Our latest kitten was the feral one. She's a bit over 2 now and is the only one with long hair, and she's a bit obese. Even though she was born on the streets, she's terrified of the outdoors and pretty much stays in.
