  • Sorry, I should have posted my results. 

    The burgers and hotdogs were really good. We love the all beef hotdogs from Sam's.

    For grilling, I close the bottom vent, open the lid, light the lump, grill the steaks, burgers, whatever, then close the lid when I'm done to extinguish the fire.  All open.  I want all my heat to be direct to get a nice char/sear without overcooking my food.  No issue with flare-ups, but if I get them I'll move the food or pause the cooking for the flare to die down. 

    Tip: if you do long grill sessions with very high heat, wrap some foil around the egg handle so it doesn't get charred.
