Grease dripping from Egg bottom

Has anyone experienced grease dripping from the bottom of the Egg? I grilled some pork chops last night around 300 degrees, then shut it down as normal. I went to grill dinner tonight and saw lots of grease drippings on the ground.

Possible your base has a crack.
More likely it’s moisture being pushed out the porous ceramics.
    Thank you,

Worst case as mentioned, the crack in the base but in your favor-low temperature cook.  Factor the location of the drippings into your concern but independent give the base a good look.  There's a reason for the warranty.

  • Thanks. I’ll have to get it out of the nest and take a good look.

No need to pull from the next if the location is not around the edge.  Had a base with the crack extend around 1/2 way across the base.  If your grease accumulation is near the edge of the base and near the vent then you probably won't find anything of concern.

Rather than do the strong man thing just find or borrow a small mirror so you can look up under the base. Personally I think your issue is a cracked base.

I have been running with a crack for a while.  I drip a little grease.  Waiting to swap out to the replacement base for...a day I feel like it.

  • Just covering some other bases here, but are you sure it wasn't just dripping out of the draft door? I have experienced that once or twice, though for some reason typically during winter cooks.

you can also pull out the firebox and clean it out, wipe it with a damp rag and the faintest of cracks will show up on the inside. lots of moisture in my area, at times the whole base looks to be dripping grease, top to bottom
