I love cooking wings, drummies, this etc. on the egg but I hate having to flip everything (especially wings) because of flare ups and raising temps. I have tried closing the bottom vent but it always seems to flare up.
I've been searching the net for a clamp down basket/holder that I can fit the meat in and flip all in one shot. They have some at big box stores but they are never big enough and all have a handled that would prevent the egg from closing.
Has anyone ever built one before? Or found one big enough to fit a decent amount into?

Not what you asked for but

Years ago I took two grates and hinged them together on one side using a piece of strapping held together with nuts and bolts. I would place the wing pieces on one side, close the other grate on top of them and then simply wire the other side together. IOW I sandwiched the wings between them. That worked OK - except it was a bit of a hassle wearing BBQ mittens to grab the thing to turn and flip it, but it did accomplish what you are aiming to do. I simply quit using it as I don't make many chicken wings as I used to. Not even sure where it is now!

Yeah, as I have been looking around, I keep coming back to "just buy a joetisserie" and be fine with it.

Seems to me you have your answer already. I bought one five years ago and I've used it far more than I expected. It's seriously a great product.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

Maybe not what you are interested in but hanging wings or drums in racks and using a little foil underneath solves the flip and flare problems inexpensively. If doing two racks I will sometimes rotate the racks so interior rows become exterior rows but it’s not required. Cook at 425 until 195 internal— crispy and juicy.https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1207912/48-wings-in-1-5-hours-including-prep
I have a half circle cage basket but would only work for wings not drums. Only use it for asparagus and few other veggies.
