Milestone birthdays can have major mental impact once you cross that line.  So here's my unscientific and not deeply studied assessment of the BIG 50!
Cruising thru the numbers, 30 may have been a hic-cup and who knows with 40 but here's the reality of the BIG 50.  For all the prior milestones you could reasonably and easily convince yourself that more than one half of your life is in front of you.  I'm here to tell you that is not the case when you cross the BIG 50 threshold.  So buckle up and enjoy the downhill ride!
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

30 and 40 really meant nothing to me, 50 almost killed me (see my whining on the "Easing into Retirement" thread).

The only birthday that bothered me was the 35th. No real idea why. At 61 I definitely know that I have crested the hill and am probably halfway to the bottom.  I was never sure that I would make it this long so it’s all gravy from now on.
