Shishito - king of the backyard peppers

This spring I randomly stumbled onto some shishito peppers at the store and planted three in a corner of the garden and proceeded to immediately forget about them. Didn’t rediscover them until they had peppers, so totally zero effort. They just keep producing harvest after harvest all summer. I like to toss in some EVOO and cook in a CI pan until blistered and salt them.

    They are the best. Mine are also very heavy producers. I have 6 plants, so I'm giving a lot away.

    Yes, you eat them with the skins on.  They are common in Japanese restaurants...they are usually cooked in a pan until blistered and soft.  Really tasty and not that hot but great flavor.

    Definitely mine are still growing, Padron peppers are eaten a very similar way and available at some Spanish and Mexican markets.

    @l@loco_engr Try Trader Joe's, They have them there in the NJ stores.
