Dome alignment

My dome is slightly out of alignment. Can I loosen the bands and then retighten them or do I need to replace the bolts?

Please define alignment. You mean your dome and base handles no longer match up or that your dome and base no longer come together properly so you are having leakage issues?
  • Ya, I believe my dome is sitting a bit back on the base. I get some smoke leakage from the back and I don’t think she’s shutting down quickly enough after I close off the vents.

then to me it sounds like the planes of your dome and base are out of whack! That should be resolved by merely closing your dome, loosening the nuts on the bolts on both your dome and base and pressing down on the dome to be sure! Then tighten the nuts again, but remember the proper tightening means your bolts will need to bend anew!

  • Thank Ron, I'll give that a try this weekend. I was concerned about re-using the same bolts or if I needed a replacement set. I'll try the same ones.

new would be best since once bent then the threads don't work well with each other, but it can be done.
