SMOKED GNOCCHI

Has anyone ever smoked gnocchi? If so would like to know the results as well as time and Temps.
Thinking a little smoke goes a long ways so don't want to have the gnocchi taste bitter. Saw a killer New England clam chowder recipe with gnocchi on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives with and would like to amp it up a bit with the egg.  Will post recipe and results when I do it. Thanks folks.

I would think if you smoked them before cooking (boiling) them, that would wash off any smoke, and smoking them after boiling, how would you hold them without them falling apart?
Intriguing idea, however (I love gnocchi!)

Oh!  If you smoke the peeled potatoes before mashing them with the flour, that might work.  Hmmm.

have par cooked elbow macaroni, then smoked a short bit, then added to sauce to finish cooking. bet you could do the same with gnocchi and a chowder, just a few minutes to finish the cook. used a spaghetti strainer to smoke it in, with gnoochi it may need to dry the exterior or maybe coat with a little butter to avoid sticking
