Especially from a brand like that. Salmonella is killed at very low temps, well within what you can dry those spices in and I would expect expect to be wayyyyy over those temperatures for safety. Must be contaminated post drying somehow.

Many years ago (15?) I got a bout of salmonella. Rather mild case fortunately tho I did miss a few days of work.
One night I got a phone call from Costco alerting me to a recall of packs of Italian deli meat made by a company in Rhode Island (Danielle?). That was about two weeks after I had already consumed the meat and recovered from being sick. I got a letter from Costco a few days later basically sharing the same info.
When I was sick I had just assumed I would never be sure what I ate that was tainted so it was interesting to actually learn what the likely cause was.
It took a few more weeks for an investigation and it turned out that the culprit was the black pepper used in one of the salami's. That pepper was imported from India.
The company that made the meats shut down for awhile to do a deep clean of their facility but when they resumed production Costco started carrying it again and I have still been buying it every few months since then from either Costco or BJ's.
