New Butane Charcoal EGGniter Not Working

I bought a fancy EGGNiter brand new from a local Big Green Egg dealer. I filled it with BGE butane and used a bottle of it fairly quickly. I then bought some cans of Sterno Butane Fuel Cartridges. The cans say that the butane is for cooking torches and that it is "food service quality" and "for stoves and torches." Now, my EGGNiter is not providing any flame. Not even a weak one... just nothing.

I have tried new batteries. I have also tried to find information on search engines and YouTube. I have not found anything beyond a website that says that using the wrong butane can cause a torch to no longer work.

Does anyone know of any possible fixes? Does it sound like the butane caused this? If so, how do I get it out?

    Dear New Egger,

The solution is quite simple! Take it back to your BGE dealer for either a replacement OR  total refund! See how easy that was?

Actually there are multiple and easier and MUCH cheaper ways to light your lump.

Thank you. Quite frankly, I wish I had not bought the thing in the first place. I have been making due with $1 lighters and newspaper for months and have had no problems. I just don't think that asking for a refund is the right thing to do. I bought it from a local, independently-owned store, and I made the decision to buy the torch. If anyone here tells me it is defective, I will probably ask for a replacement...

Guess you and I and MOST of the rest of the world of consumers don’t get your rationale of not wanting a refund for andefective product you purchased from that BGE dealer! I sure hope you get over this hang up when that new BGE of yours have pieces and parts which break and need to be replaced under the lifetime warranty!

    Agree with @rrp
If you want to find out what the problem is, your dealer is the answer.

Can you bleed out the Sterno fuel even if it does not ignite? If so, then I'd empty it and reload with more BGE fuel and see if it works.
If it doesn't, it has a one year warranty so at the very least I'd go get a replacement unit. It could just be that the one you got was a lemon.

It’s probably the nozzle on the gas cartridge. Can you remove the one that was on the original bge one and put on the replacement?   I say this because we used to use gas powered nail guns for trim and finish work.  The canister was the same but a different nozzle on each. This controlled the amount of gas per shot.  If you had a trim nozzle in the frame gun it would barely set the nail but if a framing nozzle was in a trim gun it would blow a 2” nail through a piece crown.  Hope that makes sense.
