Buddy of mine posted this half-hour video by a guy named Adam Neely (I'm going to have to see more of his stuff).  Since there are quite a few musicians on the forum I thought some might find this interesting.

The story includes Eric Carmen, Rachmaninoff, the Cb minor chord, a vocal coach, David Foster, and a new-found respect for Celine Dion.  It talks a lot about the emotional impact that music can have.  There's a lot of music theory that flies over my head, but was still worth watching.  Here's the clip of Celine being overcome, without commentary over it (second half of this video is an interview in French):

I think the main reason Celine was overcome with emotion during that performance was because her husband René had died just a few weeks earlier.

Yes, that was explained in the video.  Her brother died, also of cancer, two days after her husband.

Ahhh good. I didn't watch the whole video. Once I saw the date at the beginning I knew what was up.
I enjoy listening to her sing and have a few of her albums but don't really enjoy watching her sing.

Hah, me too!  (add Hall & Oates, Joe Cocker to that list)
The vocal coach talked a bit about her gestures, stance, posture and even thumping her chest as techniques used to hit "those damn high notes", things I never knew (except for posture).  And yeah, the music theory does make the video hard to get all the way thru.
