Cheap/good places to eat in Vegas?

The wife and I are headed to Vegas in a couple of weeks. It'll be the first time for both of us. We are going to see David Copperfield and we have reservations at Picasso for dinner one night. Outside of that, since it is our first time and only three days, we plan to just walk around, drink, gamble cheaply, etc. Are there any good/cheap places that we should check out for lunch/dinner? Or any other tips related to Vegas?

It depends. Are you going to have access to a vehicle? If not, there really isn’t anywhere near the strip that is going to be “cheap.” There are a bunch of places outside of the strip that are really good. Just kinda depends on what you want.

I will also say, don’t be surprised if you find yourself in the middle of protests, there haven’t been any yet, but we will see how the next week or so play out. Last year, they were focused around Billagio but moved up and down Las Vegas Blvd.

I haven't been to Vegas since pandemic hit, but finding cheaper eats on the strip is a challenge. I will say that "Earl of Sandwich" is pretty good for the money and I believe there's a few locations on the strip. If you want cheap grub, take the bus downtown.

What ever happened to good, cheap food to lure people inside casinos?

We used to go to the buffets in some of the Biloxi casinos when they had all-you-can eat prime rib or alaskan king crab.

Gambling in a casino is stupid and even ruinous to most people.  Look no farther than the wealth of casino owners and the opulence of the casinos. They don't produce anything of value to society.  The worse casinos make it for people, the better, IMO.

If you can't make money owning a casino, you have reached a level of dumfuc&ery that should bar you from owning another business....or running for public office. Amirite?

was in vegas three days, played a one arm bandit a total of 5 coin fills, put the 1500 dollars i won in my pocket. learned the drink scam, change at the bar, free drink, change the coins at the teller back to a twenty. i owned the house with no card counting involved. montreal casino is horrible, 10 bucks to check your ball cap in, and gambling they served free coffee. best thing for me in/aroun vegas was offroading in the high desert in a subaru outback, even found an old mine that the car fit in.

No vehicle. Only there a couple days. Our "nice" meal will be Picasso. Looking for reasonable outside of that.

I thought drinks were still free if they come from the waitress while you were gambling?

Years ago, It was my wife and I's first really expensive meal. I don't remember all the details except that we did the tasting menu with wine pairings. The first time I paid over $500 for a dinner. They sat us right up against the window overlooking the fountains. Amazing view of the show.

We did request a seat outside so we can watch the Bellagio fountains and our reservation is at 7:30 so it'll be getting dark

Get a cab, Uber/Lyft (if you can get one) and go over to China Town. There are a lot of great Asian restaurants, if you are into that kind of cuisine. Tacos & Beer is just off the east side of the strip, not sure if they made it past COVID or not. I don’t go down that way if work doesn’t make me and it has been awhile.
