I’ve been lurking here for over a year after my family bought me a XL for my birthday. I’m hooked and I love cooking on it. I wanted one for about 15 years and I am so glad they bought me one. Anyway it turns out that one of my best friends had a large egg that he didn’t use anymore so he gave it to me ( I know have an XL and an L) . After A little elbow grease and a new hinge/band assembly it’s looking good. It does have a large area to fix where the glaze has come off and I’m not sure of the best way. The BGE touch up paint doesn’t seem to be meant to cover an area this large. Thanks for the help!

If your friend remembers the store where he purchased his Lrg there's a chance they might be able to supply a duplicate receipt, or if they're a friendly bunch maybe even make up a dummy.
This is assuming he brought new from a dealeraka marysvilleksegghead

I said to my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' She said, 'I want to go somewhere I've never been before.' I said, 'Try the kitchen.'

If the warranty falls through, for $410 you can buy a new base. That's still a cheap LBGE if all of the rest of it is in good shape.
I'd use it until something happened, then I would buy a base.
