Aldi's Italian Sausage

My kids just love cherry smoked sausage, as do I.  I've tried every brand you can think of, and I happened to be in Aldi's picking up a few things so I figured I'd give theirs a shot.  It's the best dam sausage I've ever had.  I have to admit my expectations were low and I guess I'm glad they were because I don't think I would have enjoyed them as much as I did.  2 big thumbs up!!!!

If we're staying on topic of breakfast and Aldi, their pancakes box mix is really good as well.

It’s been a while since I went to Aldi, but I do remember their sausage game being by on point.  We liked their brats and breakfast sausage too.

There are about 12 things I buy regularly at Aldi.  I guess I will add sausage.

I love their boxed Red Beans and Rice, hummus, eggs, butter, and pita chips.  Those are weekly staples for me.

The frozen breaded chicken breasts taste very much like Chick Filet. No joke.

The Mediterranean salmon is fantastic at Aldi's as well.

  • FWIW, I've had a similar experience with a place called Fresh Market.  Although it's not really set up for all my grocery needs, their sausage is shockingly good and not terribly priced either.  Multiple varieties -- sweet and hot italian, broccoli rabe and provolone, andouille, chorizo -- it's all really good.  Unless you're my cardiologist, in which case I'd tell you to avoid that killer tube pig like the plague.

You are spot on with that.  Google Aldi Chic Fil A and several recipes come up for the Kirkwood red bag chicken breast.  Best cooked in an air fryer.

We like the hamburger patties better than anywhere else and their goats cheese is the cheapest around....Italian sausage will be my next try.

Millville Sweet and Salty Chocolate Pretzel Bars, Clancy's Kettle Cuban Sandwich Chips, and a couple gallons of milk are the staples. Even if I run in for one thing.

Yes on the Aldi Hot Italian sausage.  It's not hot, more like medium. Also the brauts.  In 2019 and 2020, we spent more at Aldi than at Kroger.  Lidl came in at #3.  They have hams on sale for $0.85 now.

The only negatives: Aldi's fruit and vegetables don't stay fresh as long a Kroger's.

Edit: their brioche rolls and buns are killer. I got my parents addicted to them.  I do all my parents' grocery shopping for them.  Prolly $300 month total at Aldi for two elderly folks, plus another $80-100 at Kroger for non-Aldi items.

Lidl: Watch for the sea scallops to go on sale and run fast. They're fantastic but sell out pretty quickly.

I stupidly used to think Aldis only had less than par food for cheap prices.  Boy could I have ever been more wrong!  Their food for the most part is top notch but the prices are amazing!  I never hesitate to give an Aldi's item a whirl. 90% of the time I am very happy

Only discovered Aldi about a year ago. Prices can’t be beat and most items are good quality, especially those sausages. They have a great cheese selection as well.

Only problem I’ve noticed is produce doesn’t last quite as long, but if you’re eating it within a couple of days no biggie.

I always used Wilkes smoked sausage for chili, yep, it's excellent.

Best I ever got was Ptak's north of Mableton. Line out the door on the 1 Saturday they are open per month. Their stuff is indescribably perfect.

Patak's meat is the best! My in-laws used to live out that direction and whenever they were able to get in we would stock up. I thought there was an British eatery in Cumming that sold Patak meats, but maybe I'm dreaming.

  • These Aldi threads changed my view of the store.  Never thought I would be getting chips, pickles, breaded chicken breasts, and now possibly sausage 😆.

I visited my Aldi this morning.  I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Hot Italian sausages were $1.00 off.  I stocked up.

@loco_engr Yes, they have 1 lb bulk, at least the mild version. Not sure about hot. This pic from their Instacart listing.
