Ketchup not just for breakfast anymore(?)
![YukonRon](https://us.v-cdn.net/5017260/uploads/userpics/890/nABNY4T472SF4.jpg)
Is there a better bottle than the one that is on sale?
Are you truly gourmet and have developed a recipe that smoked, the ketchup we watch our children and grandchildren grab, and then apply copious amounts of the red condiment to complete the perfect peanut butter, bologna and Frito double stacked sandwiches? (Mother’s fault, obviously, leaving sliced bananas off is a crime, but that will need to go on another thread)
Please share your thoughts.

HEB in Texas started selling "Whataburger" ketchup and I like it.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

Made a batch about two months back and it was a grand slam of a success. Bet you could kiss it with some cold smoke with interesting results.Just try it. -
I buy aldi's organic house brand with no hfcs and lower sodium. Tastes like my former standard, Heinz. Doesn't really matter though as I only use it on fries. And I don't eat fries often.
As for "ketchup, peanut butter, bologna and Frito double stacked sandwiches with bananas", say it ain't so!I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Ketchup has three legit uses and one non-legit but acceptable use.1. Condiment on hamburgers.2. Condiment on fries.3. Punchline for bad Pulp Fiction joke.4. Fake blood for low budget horror films by teens. All other uses are heresy.FIN______________________________________________I love lamp..

But if you say it was good I wonder if a guy could just puree it so it could be squirted rather than spooned on. -
I avoid Heinz at all costs. Tried the organic from Wegmans, good but a little sweet. Usually just do Hunts

Like every patriotic American I abhor ketchup on hot dogs.
Yet, for me it's a must on corn dogs.
Which I get a craving for, every 12 to 15 months, and I consume one of those big boxes; then I'm fine.
In Heinz, only.
Go figure.___________"They're eating the checks! They're eating the balances!"

The Cheetoh likes ketchup on his well done steaks so a real 'Murican wouldn't say that is heretical.

I've pretty much eliminated ketchup as a condiment for bbq sauce over the years. Not intentionally but just kind of phased it out to the point where I caught flack for not having it on hand when others are over. Ketchup still has it places though."The pig is an amazing animal. I like to have a good laugh at the people who are ketchups snobs (“only on this, never on that”).
like arguing burger king vs macdonalds. Both good. Nothing esoteric about either.Although: I’d certainly listen to an informed opinion about why one shouldn’t have ketchup on a hot dog. But if your sentence begins with “my dad says..” I will have to pass. -

I'll add eggs and sausage sticks, something I've done since a kid. -
I'm with @GrateEggspectations re: metchup. It really is the universal condiment. Good. On. Every. Damn. Thing.
Caliprince likes Heinz. Probably 'coz that's what we put in front of him.

Anyone want to make their own ketchup? Here are two recipes, the first is just mix and stir, the second is cooked for a bit. Been a while, but istr the cooked one is a bit better, but not by much.
If you use either recipe, you have to promise NEVER to use them on hot dogs... Unless you are 12 years old or younger!YIELD: 2 CUPSHOMEMADE KETCHUP RECIPE

As a kid, we dunked our grilled cheese sammies in ketchup, it was Heinz, I'm sure.
Then as a yound adult on my first trip to New Orleans and my first time trying raw oysters, the restaurant had the fixins for cocktail sauce on the table to mix it up yourself:
Ketchup
Horseradish
Lemon juice
Worchestirshireshire sauce (however it's spelled)
Tabasco
To this day, I keep all the ingredients on hand to make cocktail sauce in case we are serving oysters or Old Bay shrimp. I find the bottled cocktail sauces are just disgusting and waay too sweet.
These days I buy Trader Joe's organic ketchup without high fructose corn syrup or Annie's organic.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

I have a bottle of this in the back of my cupboard. It's the consistency/color of soy sauce, and there's mebbe a 1/16" amount of sediment on the bottom (its been up there awhile, and the seal is unbroken).
Guess I should try it one of these days.
EDIT: And I just read thru the Amazoid reviews; some equate it to warshyersister sauce, and others claim its much better. Guess I need to grill up some burgers when my Masala-stew/rice leftovers peter out, and try this stuff.

@Botch Maybe you need to plan a dessert instead of burgers. If I am reading the label correctly, it says "For Pies, Puddings and Sauces &c."
