Burgers on Cast Iron plate setter?
I’ve wanted to try smash burgers for awhile, I have a buddy who does it in a cast iron skillet- but for our family of 7 that would take too long. I did get a cast iron plate setter for Christmas. So far I’ve used it for steaks and ahi tuna- I love the sear off this thing! But I’m guessing with the grooves it won’t be great for smash burgers. Certainly it should work for regular burgers.
Any of you guys using the cast iron plate setter for burgers?

If you have a metal fabrication shop (or other steel dealer) nearby, you can pick up a piece of 1/4" A36 steel plate and have them cut it to fit your egg. The shop near me has a "Bargain Barn" where you can buy cut offs and surplus pieces for $1/lb. My pizza steel (for my oven) cost about $12.
Plus, it would be great for pizza! Or other flattop cooks.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

For true smash burgers on the egg, I use this.

I drink cheap beer so I can afford good bourbon.

I do have the XL, I did think about flipping it over. We also have a rockcrock grill stone my wife bought from pampered shelf that is smooth, I may try that.
