Seasoning Recipes

I'm looking for some input on Seasoning Recipes / Mixtures. BBQ, Cajun, etc... . Any of you know of any good web-sites for making your own seasoning mixtures? I'm just curious to know what most people use when making their own seasoning mixtures. I know that a lot of seasoning mixtures are different simply by what origin of the country you live in. [p]Thanks

Eggprentice,[p]Dr. BBQ has a great basic all around BBQ rub/seasoning recipe in his new book. I tried it on a butt this weekend and it had a great flavor. Real simple to mix up too.[p]I'm at work now and don't have the book in front of me but maybe someone who does will chime in with the recipe.[p]If you don't mind just buying rubs, Dizzy Pig rubs (www.dizzypigbbq.com) are about as tasty and fresh as you can get.[p]Cheers,[p]TRex

  • Wise One,[p]Thank you sir. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Just wanted to see how other folks do it and then tinker with the recipes myself and come up something on my own.[p]Thanks for your help!

  • TRex,

I hear ol' Dizzy Pig makes some of the best rubs around. I'm going to order some from them and try'em out. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Those guys sure sound like they know what they are doing. I just the idea of making some on my own to.[p]A friend of mine told me once, "There is no such thing as a bad beer, some just taste better than others". I think maybe the same could be said for seasonings. :-)[p]Thanks TRex

    Eggprentice,
For good formulations, as well as a very clear explanation of the "why's", check Paul Kirk's Championship Barbecue Sauces and Rubs. It's available in paperbound.[p]HTH
