OT: Yearly Raffle, Pappy "Can" Winkle

This is the third year these folks have held a raffle for the chance to buy a bottle of Pappy.  In a nutshell, for each food item brought in to be donated to the Lincoln Food Bank you receive a raffle ticket.  Place your tickets in the receptacle next to your bottle(s) of choice, if your ticket is drawn you can purchase that bottle.  Only one bottle per person, if fortunate enough to have your ticket drawn on one bottle you're eliminated from the draws on remaining bottles.
Pretty cool in my mind, generates loads of food for those in need and gives many people a shot at some Pappy Van Winkle.

Great concept and return to the community.  No price gouging either.  More than the Van Winkles are an option, as well.
Good luck and if you win one and don't want it, please PM me and we can work a deal.   B)

@dbCooper, are you local?  If a guy wanted to donate to the food pantry, could he send you a few bucks to get into the drawing and support a great cause?

    If that's a hassle, understood.

All of the Utah allocation of Pappy is sold via lottery. You put your name into the system and the random number generator spits out the lucky names of people who can buy it at their standard markup. The few bottles of 23 year old are $300.

@Langner91 Doing that for one would not be a hassle but, 5 others have PM'ed asking me the same thing.  If I did for one I'd feel obligated to do for all that ask.  This is likely selfish on my part, I really don't want to facilitate what it takes for "remote" entries..... getting the money, buying food, managing the tickets, etc.  Sorry I can't be more accommodating to you.
I notice you are in Clinton, IA.  Do you happen to know long time residents Patti and Earle Rock?

Totally understand @dbCooper.  I hope they have a great foodraiser!

I only moved to Clinton in 2019, so I am afraid I do not know many locals.  I lived in Illinois nearly all my life.  I met fellow egghead @badinfluence (from Clinton) before he passed, as he occasionally hung out at the same grill shop that I do.

Got my entries in today, drawing is on 1st of Feb.  Guessing around 300-400 pounds of food in the store, proprietor said they delivered 8000 pounds to the food bank on Monday.  So some good stuff happening.
I donated 12 items, getting 12 tickets.  Tickets can be entered as you wish, I placed one in each box.  Long odds but I got a chance!

@dbCooper - good for you and my above offer still stands although if you score a unicorn then you can reap a whole lot on the after market.  Good luck!

Have a hard time seeing myself and a $229 bottle of anything.  It's yours at my cost if it hits.  And here I thought my odds were long.   🙂
The others I'm in it for the drinking/sharing.

That’s a very kind deal being charted out above. Couldn’t go to a better soul, too.

Where I’m from, those prices are real bargains!!

When the phone didn't ring I knew it was them.  There's always next year.  :)
Good results for the food bank:
Over 17,000! That’s how many items we raised during our Pappy “Can” Winkle drive for the @FoodBankLincoln! Everyone’s support/donations has us feeling very humble about the impact we can make in our community! Can’t thank you enough #LNK! Congrats to the winners! Until next year!"

Another year that my phone didn't ring.  The Food Bank was not the beneficiary this year, they collected socks for The Peoples City Mission (homeless shelter)...
    "Meier's Cork&Bottle
Sure wish we had more bottles to draw for because we had SO MANY deserving supporters. Still blown away at the 15,000 pairs of socks we were able to collect for the @PCMLincoln! Y’all made our #SocksOnTheRocks drive a huge success and we can’t thank you enough! Until next year!"

If your phone ever does ring you will have a great bottle wherever you land.  Some real unicorns right there.
