Sold a large, and a weber moved in

Sold this beloved large this morning, I listed it last night for $600, and it was gone this morning.  This one was a "small" egg I bought from someone that didn't know what they had, and it has very few cooks on it.  It has the original gasket, and it is still felt, not crusty from use.  My estimate is from the early 2000's.  I added a proper nest and the reggulator.  I actually just decided to keep the daisy wheel and cap and let a reggulator go, even tho I prefer the reggulator.  You just can't get the daisy/ceramic cap combo anymore.

and it was to make room for this

excited to see how it cooks.  I used a bubba keg for a long time, so I have a lot of experience with double walled metal kamados.  this one is really cool tho, love the features it has.

Nice I love mine. I use my XL woo and CGS drip pan in it for almost every cook. The XL AR fits in it also but I dont use it much. The gas start is really nice but it lights the right side more than the left so i stir the coals after using it or you end up with a hotter right side. Congrats
  • Thanks for the tips @Lit. Mine is actually the new cheaper Weber Kamado. It doesn’t have the propane assist like yours. The cart has issues, but after talking to Weber, they are retooling it and will send it to me when the new one is ready.  I have the XL adjustable rig and woo, so that gear may find its way in here for testing.

Any Weber rig (once it has some run time) is a great product.  I was giving their Summit charcoal grill a hard look but went in a different direction.
Congrats as you will enjoy it no doubt.  Nice score.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
  • Nice!  Did this just come to market?  I think the no propane start is a major plus.

  • @4TheGrillOfIt Yeah it was released after thanksgiving. A few of us got them before Weber acknowledged that the cart is crap compared to the 1st gen. They put a post on their website that anyone that got one would be getting the entire grill replaced after they fix the problem, and they aren’t shipping any more out. I had a 20 minute call with one of their VPs yesterday, and he was very honest about the mistake and I will be getting a new grill sometime in January. He said the retooling requires a whole new unit instead of just the cart. The main issue is the cart is not very secure, and the back wheels are beyond terrible. If you move the grill the wheels get confused and you’re just pulling a grill with the wheels turned the wrong way. I just picked it up and carried it across my lawn because it would not roll. Outside of that, it has propane assist removed, and the diffuser does not flip up like the old one. The guy I talked to said almost no one adds fuel mid cook, and that’s been my experience too with every Kamado I’ve ever used.

You have to hand it to Weber. 1 phone call, gets you to a real person, and they pleasantly and promptly help you.
    Thank you,

Weber has always impressed me with their customer service and solid, simple, functional designs.  Their "Kamado" is high on my list for next grill.

  • I have had incredible service from Weber. I can see how the pandemic could make new product launches problematic, but it seems like they had problems with their pellet grills on launch last year as well.
