How do you know when it is tome to replace the gasket?  What should I be looking for?  Thanks

    I have replaced two.

    One burned up on a high heat cook and became "crispy".  

    The other stuck together (also caused by high heat) and pulled itself off the lid when I opened the grill.

    Both times, there was no doubt in my mind that it needed to be replaced.
