Florida bbq recommendations

I will be traveling to the Bonita springs ish area soon. Anywhere my fellow egg heads could point me in the right direction to for good bbq, other foods, and beers?

Thanks!

Nothing even approaching Valentina's.  Tampa does have four rivers and the deviled pig which are both good. Deviled pig is owned by Leeann Whippen.  she's a bbq pitmasters regular and does a great job.  I live outside of Tampa, and you are certainly welcome to stop in for a meal or two or three here!

On the way down, try and make your way thru Gadsden, AL.  There's a spot there called Pruett's BBQ.  Amazing fried chicken, bbq, and everything else.

  • Not much in that area that I know of. Can't go wrong with brisket from four rivers though.

Not bbq but the Columbia Restaurant is excellent.

    Northern Colorado Egghead since 2012.

    XL BGE and a KBQ.

  • Didn't know there was much for BBQ in Florida. I'd be chowing down on some grouper, snapper, mahi, shrimp, conch, and other sea critters.

I can remember when Ms. Whippen had her two Wood Chix BBQ locations in Chesapeake Va. Two most redeeming things about the places were:
    - Exits were clearly marked.
    - When establishment was in your rear view mirror when driving away.
    "Sweat Shop BBQ" at best!
