Temperature gauge

I’m having trouble with the temperature gauge clip inside my egg. It doesn’t hold my thermometer tight so it jiggles around when I open and close my egg. Any suggestions to making it tight or an alternative clip?

Toss the clip and drill a small hole thru a wine cork. On the outside of the BGE, insert the thermo thru the cork. You won't impale the food on the thermo. And, dial the thermo to place your target cook temp at 12 o'clock. That way a casual glance lets you know how the cook is trending. FWIW-

No clue on the benefit provided by the clip. I toss them straight away.

As others have said - pitch that clip - gravity will keep your thermometer from falling out. Besides that a tight clip can even throw off the calibration if you were turn the face by bumping it.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

had the same question about a year ago, kept bumping my calibration off, took the advise as above and tossed the clips, problem solved.1 large in challenger cart and 1 mini-max , too many dang accessories

I like the cork idea, took off the clip a while back because of the thermometer was getting caught on the food. Unfortunately I buy cheap wine which does not have a cork
. I will get one at a hobby store some day
Found this old thread with a good example, and nice handle also.Dave

5 Eggs no clips. I use wooden toy wheels from Hobby Lobby. Think a pack of 8 is a couple of bucks.

Just bend it. If you bend it open ... it will grip the gauge more tightly.
