I have one of the + models.
Cool idea. Not terrible.
range is sketchy and you always have to have your phone or iPad on to check temps. The probe does have to be stuck in pretty far to work and the probe size is 3 times larger than most instant reads.
I think it’s great for someone spinning a bird or large cut of meat.
It is a compact unit and would be great for travel. Seems well built.
Just a few observations.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I got one when they first came out, and still use it occasionally. Very good product IMHO, and does the job like nothing else when you want to monitor the temp in something rotating on the spit.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

I saw a YouTuber use it when frying a steak. I was very impressed it worked when immersed in 325 deg oil.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I use mine all of the time and love it. I use it a lot for spatchcocked chicken, reverse sear steak, brisket, and pork butt.Pros:- Completely wireless, so no fuss like my other probes- Reads both ambient and internal in one unit- Can be set up to see temps anywhere you have an internet connection- Can be used on a rotisserie, if you have one (which I don't)Cons:- As mentioned, diameter is quite large- Probe MUST be inserted about 3 inches to protect internals of unit- Ambient sensor must be SHINY clean, or it won't charge for next useDefinitely a cool tool (and toy).

I agree with your pro/con, but want to mention that these units are Bluetooth and to be able to see temps anywhere with internet you have to use a phone or tablet to relay the signal to your home internet and yet another device to then view the internet signal. So you need a free tablet to keep on as a relay or a 2nd phone to use as a relay to get true internet viewing.jetman96 said:I use mine all of the time and love it.
