New Egg Table Built - Question on Space Around BGE

I opted for a piece of a 3cm (1-3/16”) granite to raise my Large BGE for a little extra clearance.  The table was custom built to spec with 15” from table top to the shelf where the table nest is resting.  But, the hole is only 20-7/8” (vs. recommended 21.25”).

The granite slab raised it to the perfect height.  I bought a 18x18” piece of scrap with eased edges for $40.00.

I am now trying to get back to this.  I am going to keep looking to see if I can find granite.  I got a quote from a granite store for $80 per piece which seems too $$.  In the meantime, I may look for another kind of stone to put under there.  I did some temp testing with my infrared temp gauge and it was pretty low.  For example, with the dome temp at about 400, I tested around the egg where it is closest to the table.  I tested the egg and the gasket temps when it was at 400.  I tried several spots in that area and the temps ranged from 85-110.  That was at all kinds of spots on the gasket that I put around the egg table hole.

I am planning to left it up with something but I am testing it along the way to see how it goes.

Go to a landscape supply store ... they have nice 2 x 2 or even 3 x 3 slabs square edge flag stones ... will cost you like $35 to $40.
