Did this recipe again for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. What a hit! 23 lb bird, cooked at 325F (at grid) ... suprisingly took only 5h to cook to an internal temperature of 170F (was targeting 165F). The meat drives the cook, I guess.
Tasted amazing.

Celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving yesterday with the family. Couldn't find a single bird large enough to feed everyone, so cooked two 14 lb birds.
Used a minor modification to the mad max recipe. Cooked at 325F. Birds only took 3h 15min to reach 165F. Reinjected the breasts with drippings prior to serving.
