Mainstream discussion of charcoal
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-charcoal-for-grilling/

Lump vs Charcoal was a nice brief discussion except for the typo
XLBGE, LBGECharbroil Gas Grill, Weber Q200, Old Weber Kettle, Rectec RT-B380, Yeti 65, Yeti Hopper 20, RTIC 20, RTIC 20 Soft Side - Too many drinkware vessels to mention.

Not quite in Austin, TX City Limits
Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

Never tried the Royal Oak briquets. Might have to pick up a bag.
While they seem outperformed in some ways it's still hard to beat the original Kingsford bricks for grilling, especially when you factor in the price.

The article was several years old and from the New York Times. I might believe them on where to get the best pastrami on rye but I will trust this site for charcoal recommendations.

I just got out my Smokey Mountain and a few bags of kingsford.  Gonna go pre-Egg style in the near future.

I won't listen to the NY Slimes for many things - especially they're opinion on lump...  Thanks, but NO thanks.

    File this under "clickbait".

Before you get bent out of shape about this being published under the NYT/Wirecutter banner, consider that the article was written by a freelance internet journalist ( of which there are scads) , an English literateur (yes, I concede he could possibly be a bbq aficionado), who may not have really cooked that much with the product he reviewed.

Always consider the source of whatever data you are reviewing.

Well the article was last updated June 16th 2020.
The Wirecutter used to be an independent review site which used to (perhaps they still do) do a "better than most sites" approach to product reviews.
The NY Times just bought The Wirecutter 3 or 4 years ago. Can't say that I've noticed any sneaky left-wing bias in their charcoal reviews these days.
