I remember eating these when I was a kid, at the grandparents house, haven't had one since then.  I will revisit them.
Interesting article on them here:

I just read the same article a couple days ago but couldn't remember where. I wanted to forward it to my aunt in Hendersonville who used to feed these to me as a kid when I'd visit. Thanks!

When I was a kid, a friend’s grandma used to roll pickles up in bologna and run them through the hand crank meat grinder and make sandwiches on white bread with it as a spread.  Those were good, but I’ve never had just pickle.
    Love you bro!

The bologna/pickle spread is interesting. I've never heard of that but would like to try it. My mom used to make ham salad like that with leftover ham, pickles and mayo. It's great.

I was often threatened with a knuckle sandwich as a child, but I think this is different.

Well as a kid I had banana and mayonnaise sandwiches and tomato and mayo both on white bread. Plus baked beans toasted on a hamburger bun with cheese melted on top. I also was a pickle fanatic but never made that sandwich. I am looking at a jar of Vlasic dill pickle sliced longwise but no bread in the house?

Interesting article - thanks for posting.  I would definitely try a butter pickle sandwich.  The article also mention a peanut butter and tomato sandwich - that doesn’t sound appealing to me.

Have not had one since the early 70's, and grandma used dill slices.  Dunno if B&B were even a thing back then.
