Congrats on the Egg! I’ve had mine for about 4 months and I’m loving it! Great looking butt as well. Welcome!

Once you get your egg temp dialed in you don’t need to fool with it, after opening and closing the lid it will settle back to the temperature it was at before. Same with protein, if your cruising along at 275, then throw on your protein the temperature will dip, however without intervention it will settle back to 275.
That is great to know - thank you.  I would have kept trying to adjust it again.

My downtime today will be spent watching some pizza videos!

  • Piggybacking this thread since I'm a Father's Day egg recipient as well. Did a turbo butt over the weekend... about 6 hours overall. Wrapped in foil at 160 and pulled around 203, then FTC for a couple hours. Really happy with how it turned out for my first attempt! Friends loved it, too.

  • Welcome to the future, this forum has unbelievably helpful folks who can answer whatever question you have. You mentioned trying to keep a temperature when you open the lid - one nice trick if you are using the daisy wheel is to line up the center bolt of the daisy wheel with the bolt that holds on the daisy wheel and make that alignment perpendicular to the handle. That way when you open the top gravity won't alter the opening of the cap.

Solid first cook, keep 'em coming!
