Pork belly burnt ends for bbq
Powak
Posts: 1,412
Going to a small bbq (8-9 adults and a few kids) this coming weekend and I wanna bring pork belly burnt ends. There will be other food there so this won’t be the main course. I own a large bge with a D grate extender and was just wondering how much pork belly does this setup hold and about how much I should make. For comparison, last weekend I did about 5-6lbs of pork butt burn ends and that almost filled both my grates. But I’m wondering is pork belly a lighter meat and would take up more space at the same weight?

Malcolm Reeds recipe calls for 8lbs. Does that fit on the large no problem? That enough/too much for a party of about 10 or less?

I have a large and have only cooked them on a single level. My first go was a 7 pounder. I found that to be a tight fit, not so sure the "smoking" phase delivered as it should. For me 5 pounds is about right. Using dual levels I'd think you will be fine going with 8 pounds.LBGE, LBGE-PTR, 22" Weber, Coleman 413GGreat Plains, USA

Right on. I wound up going with 6 lbs. If that’s not enough there will be other foods there. Really looking forward to this cook. Going to be my first belly burnt ends.dbCooper said:I have a large and have only cooked them on a single level. My first go was a 7 pounder.
