Med egg resale price?
Hey everyone, I could use a bit of help coming up with a resale price for a ~15 year old med egg. It still has the old style bands and nest. It has the following pretty new parts/upgrades - Rutland gasket, KAB, stainless grid, BGE temp gauge.
I also have a smokeware chimney cap that I would consider putting with it. I have the reggulator on my XL and like it, but may keep the smokeware for later use.
It has a few minor chips, but no cracks and passes the dollar bill test.
I know pricing can be regional - I’m in the Houston, TX area. (Iowa Colony)

Curious to see where this lands. I’m likely also about to sell an older med that would seem to be in a similar condition to yours. One crack in fire ring. Rutland and Smokeware racks. I’m in Canada though, where Eggs tend to command a lot more money.

Looks like you have it cleaned up real well.
List it on Craigslist starting at $400.
You can always lower the price.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I was thinking around $400 too, but wasn’t sure if the old bands and nest would diminish the value, since upgrading them would probably costs about the same.Llano, TX - Med and XL BGE’s

If it does, it’s not really the “old” bands.
BGE has made several changes.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -

this will sound crazy, but wash (no soap, just heat up and wipe down with wash cloth, it will burn everything off) and wax the egg before you take pictures when you list it. Here is my 10+ year old medium after cleaning:
same egg a few months before:
I use this to shine them up, everything including the bands, handle, nest, cap, all of it:

Nothing wrong with an egg that hasn't been buffed, but for some that are looking for a used egg, somehow the "cleaner" one changes their opinion of it. -

Thanks for the tips. It’s clean now, but not to the level you’re talking about. The pic showing the bands is how it looked when I got the egg. It was seriously a barn find. My brother in law used it a few times, but decided it was too small, so he put it away and forgot about it.Llano, TX - Med and XL BGE’s
