Hello,
My dome alignment is driving me crazy lately. I've read tons of stuff and watched nearly all videos on YT, but I just can't get rid of underbite. To be precise I can perfectly align the dome when closed, but when I open and close it again the dome shows underbite.
It almost looks like the hinge is pulling the dome back and doesn't let it to go forward. It's not bad, but there is under bite and after sometime it damages the gasket at the bottom end. Additionally the dome when opened is kind not of fully open either.
I have a feeling either my springs are not tightened or my hinge is having some issues. The issue coud even be the point where the hinge attaches to the belts.
That being said I'm kindly asking you to post pictures of your hinge (large model closeups, details,...) when the lid is opened and closed. My egg is 7 years old now...
Thanks!

The new hinge assembly is a major positive upgrade. Give it a search and take a look. I'll post a picture later, but that's a good start. Yours is probably the old with the hinge in the back.

Just bit the bullet and buy the new hinge. It's worth it for lack of frustration when using the egg alone.

The new hinge fixed mine

New hinge & band didn't fix the underbite on mine. The band in the front of the Egg sits lower than the old band did. The new position just hides the underbite.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser.

Hi, I gave it another try and it seems I managed to perfectly align it with maybe 2 mm of underbite.
The trick was to first loosen everything. Next I made sure the hinge attachments aligns perfectly with the belts and the shocks on the hinge are loosened as much as possible.
Next step was to position the bottom belt just under the gasket making sure it runs parallel with the edge. You really need to to a good job there. Then, I've aligned the upper belt. Again, don't position it far away from the edge. It needs to be just above the edge of the gasket (ceramic).
When this was all in place it was already opening and closing nicely. I just made a final tweak to the shocks on the hinge. When you crew in the bolts the shock are more extended. In my case I just made few turns so the shock nicely helps me open the dome and the dome stays firmly in position when opened.
Egging is fun again !

Oil the moving joints and make sure the moving joints are not overly tight.
This can cause binding and the issues you are having.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Try this if still having problems...
