anyone have a chiminea fireplace?

have a contract on a new house, they are leaving a behind a clay chiminea fireplace. if I remember from when I first joined here there were posts with people who had a chiminea fireplace made by BGE. this one is not but I figured the same things would apply. I have never had one. any tips/feedback? worth keeping? I read something about painting it to help it last longer?
