OT Blackstone Griddle vs Camp Chef flat top

Any opinions on which is better? I have both and like the Camp Chef better.

Camp chef is built better and stands up to the breeze better. The grease system actually works and each burner has ignition.

Nice metal work Tspud1. I like the adjustable legs for leveling on the Camp Chef but I like the  extra BTU of the Blackstone. That said I have the Blackstone

I would just say it is extremely rare you would ever need all the BTU’s on either unit. Biggest thing I’ve heard as feedback is trying to keep temps down. Either way, they’re fun.

Blackstone warranty department has been about the worst business I've ever dealt with regarding warranty work. It's going on 7-8 months now and it still hasn't been resolved. I like the product but this has been nothing but a headache.

I agree that you don't need it often, but when I use it as a hot top for our campground omelet in a bag breakfast it is nice to have them.

    What happened
I have 36" stainless version. After two cooks I noticed pockets of rust. (Lower grade stainless) I emailed them about the issue. The first Blackstone employee person gave me the run around. The employee told me they were going to talk to upper management about my issue. A couple weeks went by and nothing. I emailed Blackstone again asking for an update. They said they were moving and would get back to me after the move. A few weeks later I email and ask for an update. I was told they were still moving. Five months later no email or updates...

So I email Blackstone warranty again after 5 months of waiting. This time I get a new warranty employee. I was told my previous  employee "Doesn't work in the warranty department anymore". So I have to take more pictures and write up my warranty issue once again.

I was given the run around once again saying it wasn't rust. I was than told they didn't know if they could help me since I bought it from Menards. I asked them what the difference would be if I bought it from Walmart, Dicks, Target, etc.? They never answered my question. I was told they didn't make the stainless base anymore. The Blackstone warranty employee said she would talk to upper management about the issue. Upper management told her that it wasn't rust and they've never had an issue with rust. (Bullsheet) I took steel wool to the rust and you can clearly see why it's rusting. So I emailed back with new pictures with it being 100% obvious of the issue. She said she was going to show upper management. That was almost two weeks ago now and no response.

I like the Blackstone product but I've never had this bad of costumer service before.

My experience with them is the sales/customer service know little and have to ask for
info from China where made. They cant respond to questions if not easy ones. I wanted to know what pressure the griddle was designed for and they couldnt tell me. Seems odd for a gas appliance seller. Wanted to change out the regulator for use with larger tanks, heaven forbid you wanted an orifice size for natural gas conversion.

This might help you, a windscreen. It evens out temps and saves gas

When I got mine, I did the seasoning per their instructions, which said to use flax oil.  I then read on this forum about the issues with flaking, which I soon experienced.   I wrote Blackstone about the issue, asking why they recommended flax oil, but never heard back.  I just looked on their website, and they still have flax oil listed as the first of the recommended oils to use.
